Catechetical Coordinator: Mrs Rosemary Read
Rosemary is responsible for organising a number of the Sacramental Preparation programmes, including Baptism, First Communion and Marriage. She also provides a link between the parish and St Mary’s Primary School.
Baptism Programme
Prior to an infant's baptism, the parents (or expectant parents) are expected to attend a programme of four meetings led by one of the priests and couples from the parish. Programmes are offered about three times per year.

First Holy Communion
A joint programme is run each year beginning in the Autumn with co-operation between parents, the school and the parish, to prepare Year 3 children for their First Holy Communion in June of the following year. The programme includes meetings for parents to enable them to give further support to the children.

Confirmation
The Bishop comes by invitation from the parish typically about every three years to confirm candidates - who are usually of secondary school age. Those who wish to be confirmed attend a preparation programme in the preceding months.

Marriage
If you want to get married at St Mary’s you should normally give at least six months notice. In preparation for this important step in your lives, you would be expected to attend a four week course run by Fr Tim and a number of lay people. This course focuses in particular on Marriage as a Sacrament. Couples are also encouraged to attend a one day course run by Marriage Care which aims to help them understand their relationship and what each of them brings to this partnership.
